YHA - England & Wales

The Youth Hostels Association (YHA) has 240 places to stay in England and Wales, many in glorious town, coastal and countryside locations. The Youth Hostels are as individual as their visitors and vary from converted historic houses in our towns and cities to simple accommodation in remote, next-to-nature settings. Wherever you stay, you'll be free to discover the spectacular landscapes of England and Wales. Come by yourself, with friends or family - everyone's welcome! When you stay at a Youth Hostel you can always be sure of a friendly and helpful service from our staff.

Accommodation is in comfortable bunk bedded rooms. Overnight prices are very reasonable to stay the night and include bed linen and the use of all facilities - lounge, self-catering kitchen, plus drying room and cycle shed. Many Youth Hostels have on-site parking and grounds available for recreation, as well as extras like a self service laundry - look under 'Additional Information' in the individual Hostel entries.

Most Youth Hostels also offer a full catering service, with prices being ver inexpensive indeed for a delicious three course evening meal (with a vegetarian option). Some Youth Hostels even have a table licence so adults can enjoy a drink of wine or beer with their meal!

South East England's Youth Hostels

Famous for its rolling hills and chalk downs, the south east corner of England is also steeped in history. At Canterbury, the country's spiritual capital, you'll find the first Christian Cathedral in England, while Winchester, seat of the monarch during King Alfred's reign is equally impressive. Continue the royal theme with a visit to historic Windsor on the River Thames.

Head for the coast and visit Portsmouth to explore its maritime history or the sunny Isle of Wight just a short ferry ride away. Also worth a visit is the bustling regency resort of Brighton and lively Dover with its many attractions - don't miss the exciting Eurotunnel exhibition.

With the delightful countryside of the North and South Downs plus the old Wessex Ridgeway, it's easy to see why this area makes an ideal choice for holidays.
